Celebrating the Spirit of Giving at Annamite Resources

Before the end of 2023, the Annamite Resources family had the incredible privilege of spreading joy and warmth during our Gift Giving Day at the Namthom School near our concession area.

As a company deeply rooted in community values, we believe in giving back and nurturing the potential of young minds. Our team was overjoyed to share smiles, laughter, and thoughtful gifts with the amazing students in our community.

At Annamite Resources, we understand that sustainable development extends beyond our operations, and it begins with investing in the education and well-being of the local youth.

A massive thank you to our dedicated team members who organized this event and contributed to its success! Your passion for community engagement truly makes a difference.

Let’s continue to create positive ripples in the communities we serve. Together, we can build a brighter future!

Didier Fohlen, the CEO of Annamite Resources, and Duangmala Phommavong, a Board Member, were in attendance at the business meetings held on October 23rd and 24th in Paris, France to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between France and Laos.

We extend our gratitude to HE Mr. Manithong Vongsay, Vice Minister of Commerce and Industry, for his presence at the event. It was a valuable opportunity to engage in discussions and exchange perspectives with a delegation from the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), led by President Mr. Oudet Souvannavong.

The morning session at MEDEF International was highly productive as we explored ways to enhance the economic ties between France and Laos. We would like to express our appreciation to Guillaume Perdon and his team from BRED Banque Populaire International Department, the main shareholder of BFL BRED Group in Laos, for graciously hosting a reception. We know that #TeamSafety is the cornerstone of every successful exploration project. That’s why we’re thrilled to share a recent milestone that embodies our commitment to safety and community well-being.

On September 21, 2023, our dedicated team and school teachers in the community underwent a comprehensive first-aid training program.

This initiative goes beyond safeguarding our crew; it’s a vital step in creating a safer environment for everyone living in and around our exploration ground.

Why #TeamSafety Matters: In the world of exploration, unpredictable situations can arise. That’s why we’ve ensured our team is equipped with essential life-saving skills, including CPR, wound care, and emergency response techniques. When every second counts, these skills can make all the difference.

Extending Benefits to the Community: We firmly believe that security and safety are the keys to communities where we operate. By sharing these life-saving skills with our local community, we’re building resilience and fostering a culture of mutual support.

Our commitment to team safety during exploration activities aligns with our broader mission to enhance the well-being of the community. By equipping our team members and local teachers with crucial first-aid skills, we not only reduce the risks associated with exploration but also empower the community with the tools to respond effectively to emergencies. Through this shared knowledge, we are creating a safer and healthier environment for everyone involved. We look forward to continued collaboration with the community to further strengthen these bonds of safety and well-being.

Annamite Resources, together with its joint-venture partner LHBS, continues to advance its commitment to responsible exploration by prioritizing infrastructure improvements and community well-being across its Sokdee Project area in Laos. Despite the challenges brought by the wet season, the team has made significant progress in restoring essential public access roads and causeways that serve both local villages and project operations.

Community Engagement and Local Collaboration

Annamite/LHBS’ dedication to road safety and community engagement remains at the core of its field operations. Through consistent dialogue with local leaders and residents, the company ensures that vital information about ongoing infrastructure work is effectively communicated and understood by all stakeholders.

Recent engagements highlight the company’s proactive approach in addressing community needs while reinforcing transparency. By strengthening these relationships, Annamite/LHBS fosters trust and mutual support—both essential for long-term sustainable development.

Revitalizing the Namthom Causeway

The deteriorating causeway west of Namthom Village had long posed serious risks during the monsoon season, becoming dangerously slippery and restricting vehicle movement. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Sokdee Project team initiated a comprehensive restoration program that included:

Reshaping the road surface

Rebuilding eroded sections

Installing gabion baskets to stabilize the edges of the waterway

Improving overall structural strength to accommodate seasonal water flow

These efforts are pivotal in safeguarding both villagers and project personnel who rely on this route for everyday mobility and logistics.

Progressive Road Rehabilitation Inside the Exploration Area

In addition to the causeway restoration, Annamite/LHBS is upgrading several internal access roads within the Sokdee prospect. These improvements introduce a high-quality road base designed to withstand wet-season conditions and minimize disruptions.

This forward-thinking approach not only enhances safety for community members but also supports the operational efficiency of the exploration team and contractor partners. By investing in durable infrastructure, the company ensures continuity of access not only today but for many years to come.

Prioritizing Safety for All Road Users

Safety remains a top priority for Annamite/LHBS. The improved causeways and roads significantly reduce risks during adverse weather, ensuring safer and more reliable transportation routes for:

Local villagers

Public road users

Annamite/LHBS staff

Contractors and partner teams

These infrastructure upgrades underscore the company’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all stakeholders in the region.

A Sustainable Way Forward

Despite the flooding, erosion, and logistical challenges of the wet season, Annamite Resources has demonstrated its resilience and dedication to community-centered exploration. By addressing critical infrastructure needs promptly and responsibly, the company continues to build trust and foster long-term partnerships with the local communities of Namthom and its surrounding villages.

Annamite remains committed to sustainable exploration practices, responsible mining principles, and the long-term development of the regions in which it operates.

Annamite’s subsidiary Lao Hyundae Black Stone (LHBS), together with its partner Rio Tinto Exploration (RTX), is pleased to announce the commencement of core drilling at Mouk prospect in its Sokdee Project.  Four inclined core holes are planned, for a total of 1600 – 2000 metres: the first drill-test of a multi-element soil anomaly that coincides with a depth-extensive chargeability response, both extending 1600m along strike and probably representing a partly eroded porphyry system. Based on the results, additional core holes could be drilled at either Namthom or Mouk prospect.

It is the second Diamond Drilling campaign in the Sokdee Project after the eight holes totalling 1978m completed last year at Namthom and the initial Reverse Circulation holes at Spine, Palm, and Grassy for a total of 600m done in April 2023.

To secure its social license to operate, Annamite has expanded its team this year with a Community Relations Officer and contracted a consulting firm to support key workflow on stakeholder engagement, land ownership plus land access, planning, and land users’ compensation.

We are pleased to announce a significant step towards building stronger ties with local communities where our exploration activities are currently underway.

As part of our commitment to stakeholder engagement and responsible and sustainable development of mineral resources, we are proud to introduce our Community Relations Officer, Vilayphone (Vilay) Thammavongsa.

Vilay is an experienced and dedicated professional with a passion for community engagement and social responsibility. She has 12 years of experience in Laos in community and stakeholder work in the mining sector. Joining Annamite, her primary mission is to foster transparent communication, establish meaningful connections, and promote mutual understanding between our company and the people residing in the Sokdee area we explore.

At Annamite, we recognize the vital role communities play in the success of our operations. We understand that open dialogue, active listening, and collaboration are the cornerstones of building a prosperous future together.

💬 What Will the Community Relations Officer Do? 💬

🔹Stakeholder Engagement: Reaching out to community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders to learn about their perspectives, concerns, and aspirations, and keeping them informed about our activities on the ground.

🔹 Resolving Complaints: Using a Grievance Mechanism (GM), CRO will ensure the community’s needs are taken into account, and resolved fairly and respectfully.

🔹 Land Access: Accessing land owned by third parties is key for exploration activities. She will ensure that written agreements are prepared with fair compensation provided to land owners/land users.

🔹 Sustainable Practices: Promoting sustainable exploration practices, taking the environment, security, and well-being of the community considered at every step of our operations.

🔹 Cultural Sensitivity: Bridging between our company and the community, ensuring that we work hand-in-hand.

Stay tuned for more updates from Annamite Resources, as we share progress, stories, and initiatives in the community.

Together, we can create a positive impact and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Annamite Resources Holdings (“ARH”) is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Rio Tinto (“RTX”) for RTX to partner in exploring the Sokdee project in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (“Laos”).

The Sokdee project is located approximately 100 km north of Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The region, which has abundant water, is well served by road, rail, and the existing power grid. Sokdee contains the newly discovered Namthom Cu-Au-Mo porphyry-style mineralization and a separate untested 1.6 km long coherent coincident Cu-Au-Mo soil anomaly located at Mouk approximately 3km to the NE which in the aggregate are considered by ARH and RTX to be highly prospective for porphyry copper-gold and related mineralization.

RTX will invest US$150,000 in ARH through a share placement and will commit to funding an initial exploration program of US$810,000 (inclusive of the share placement in ARH). Upon completion of this programme, RTX (or an affiliate company) will have the option to earn progressively more interests in the Sokdee project company, Lao Hyundae Black Stone Co. Ltd (LHBS), through staged investments in the exploration of Sokdee, which is currently 70% owned by ARH.

ARH will be the operator of the initial exploration programme designed jointly by ARH and RTX. Upon exercise of its option to earn into LHBS, RTX will have the right to act as manager of LHBS and to appoint directors to LHBS commensurate with its equity interest.

ARH is a private company registered in Singapore that was established in 2019 to explore Southeast Asia, with an initial focus on Laos. ARH is currently reviewing other opportunities in Laos, a country considered prospective for gold, copper and other base metals, including nickel.

Annamite Resources Laos & Lao Hyundae Black Stone is now taking a proactive approach to prioritize the health and safety of its Sokdee Project team. The project’s management has introduced comprehensive medical checkups for both the staff and exploration team, ensuring a healthier and safer working environment. This initiative by the mineral exploration company signifies its commitment to the well-being of its employees and reinforces the significance of health and safety practices within the industry.

– Prioritizing Health and Safety –
Recognizing the inherent risks associated with mineral exploration activities, Annamite Resources Laos – Lao Hyundae Black Stone has initiated a priority programme for the health and safety of its workforce. By implementing regular medical check-ups, the company aims to identify potential health issues, prevent workplace accidents, and promote overall well-being among its employees. This proactive approach demonstrates the company’s dedication to maintaining high standards of safety in a demanding work environment.

The comprehensive medical check-ups encompass a range of health assessments and screenings.

Key components of the medical check-ups includes:

✅ Physical Examinations
✅ Occupational Health Assessments
✅ Preventive Screenings

By prioritizing health assessments, the company promotes a culture of care and concern for its employees. Regular check-ups enable early detection of health issues, leading to timely interventions and improved overall well-being.

Furthermore, the identification of potential health risks through medical check-ups allows the company to implement appropriate safety measures and mitigate workplace hazards. This proactive approach minimizes the occurrence of accidents and ensures a safer working environment.

This initiative not only enhances the safety standards within the industry but also promotes a culture of care and support, ultimately contributing to the success and sustainability of the Sokdee Project.

On March 30th, 2023, Annamite Resources held their team building activity together with the students of Ban Naxam school near our base camp in the Hinherb District, Vientiane Province of Laos. With the presence of our CEO Didier Fohlen, Annamite Resources donated around 8.7M Kip (US$500) worth of sportswear and sports equipment to the school’s varsity team, to continuously help the children’s endeavours.

The Naxam School is where pupils from the villages of Namthom, Souanmone, Mouk and Navay go for elementary and secondary curricula. All these villages are on the periphery of the LHBS Sokdee exploration concession.

As part of our contribution to community development, we are starting in parallel next week a solid waste management project to improve health, safety and environmental conditions, offering sustainable solutions, including recycling and composting to the population of the villages mentioned above.

Lei and Alex attended the Resource Connect Asia conference last week to promote our discovery in Laos of a significant Cu-Au-Mo porphyry system with adjacent related Au-Ag-Zn mineralization.

We believe that our Sokdee project is a standout in the crowded field of early-stage projects in that we already have economic intersections from three different styles of mineralization, including a porphyry. The real merit of our project is boosted by the scale of the system within a vastly underexplored but productive belt. The first results indicate that in addition to the Cu-Au-Mo Namthom porphyry, Mouk target is a new, untested soil Au-Ag-Zn-Cu-Mo anomaly, 1600m in length and broadly along strike of the Namthom porphyry system. To date, the overall system is six kilometres in length.

Trenching and sampling at the Grassy target is completed, and drilling is anticipated to start next month at Grassy, Spine and Mouk. More details will be presented upon receipt of laboratory results.

Trenching has commenced at Grassy target, in the central part of the Namthom-Mouk Porphyry Trend.

So far two trenches have been dug, a total of 183m to date out of a total of 700m which consists of 4 trenches.

Trenching in the central part of Grassy has exposed highly altered rock, with visible sulphides indicating Gold and Copper minerals.

Trenching will continue until early April 2023.
