Senior Accountant

Summary

Reporting to Group CFO who is based in Singapore, the Senior Accountant shall ensure overall financial, budgeting and accounting operations in Laos are being run efficiently with accuracy in timely manner. The role needs to be flexible in handling urgent tasks assigned by the management from time to time, as well as having strong leadership skills to manage the Finance department to achieve corporate goals. Ultimately, the Senior Accountant should have sound knowledge of accounting/tax principles and practices, corporate governance and demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Good command of English in writing and speaking is required, as the role needs to communicate with colleagues/parties from overseas frequently.

Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to develop and implement regular forecasts and annual budget for companies in charge of.

  2. Assist and coordinate financial planning and recording for exploration and other projects.

  3. Liaising with colleagues in Laos and overseas as well as those at the project sites to ensure spendings are within approved budgets.

  4. Manage the spending and treasury processes for all companies in Laos, including banking matters and cashflow projection.

  5. Preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting and finance reports.

  6. Liaise with and provide all accounting documents and information required by the Accounting service provider in Singapore for group consolidation reporting purpose.

  7. Manage and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting practices in Lao PDR and IFRS.

  8. Performing reconciliations of general ledger accounts.

  9. Supervising and providing overall guidance to Finance team in Lao PDR.

  10. Prepare monthly reports for CFO and Board of Directors on timely basis.

  11. Work constructively with all departments’ staff in Lao PDR, by having open discussion and providing guidance or setting applicable policies to be observed.

  12. To continuously improve processes and motivate the Finance team.

Requirements

  1. Technical capacity - Qualified Accountant/CPA

  2. Problem solving/analysis.

  7. Communication proficiency (including speaking and writing in Lao and English).

  10. Ability to manage multiple tasks/accounts while taking up new assignments.

  11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Xero software, with aptitude to learn new systems.

  12. Willingness to travel as needed, in particular to exploration sites and Singapore.




Accounting Officer


Summary


The Accounting ensures that all financial, budgeting and accounting operations in the accounting department run smoothly. The key focus is to support efficiently the field exploration activities, reconcile expenses incurred for exploration and prepare monthly budget and actual accounts. The Employee needs to be able to process large amounts of numerical data and have strong leadership skills. Ultimately, The Account Officer should have sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as corporate governance standards. The functions/duties/key results of this job description are generic and not all duties will be carried by The Officer. Some specialized activities can be implemented with other staff on an ad-hoc basis with the focus to ensure consistent service delivery. It is anticipated that The Account Officer will be involved in all corporate and field activities in Lao PDR.


Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to develop and implement annual budgets for each company in Lao PDR (ARL, ARH, LHBS);

  2. Assist and coordinate financial planning when exploration projects budgets are approved and implemented, including managing the budget and actual reporting for Sokdee Project;

  3. Help preparing monthly and quarterly accounting and finance reports for ARH, ARL and LHBS;

  4. Accurately preparing tax returns and ensuring that company taxes are paid in a timely manner in Lao PDR;

  5. Performing reconciliation of general ledger accounts;

  6. Identifying potential cash flow problems and financial irregularities;

  7. Ensuring that Lao companies maintains compliance with accounting legislation;

  8. Assist preparing monthly report for Board of Directors and shareholders.
