Strengthening Bonds with Local Communities: Annamite Resources Hiring a Community Relations Officer

Lei Dultra, Communication Officer of Annamite Resources

3 Aug 2023

We are pleased to announce a significant step towards building stronger ties with local communities where our exploration activities are currently underway.

As part of our commitment to stakeholder engagement and responsible and sustainable development of mineral resources, we are proud to introduce our Community Relations Officer, Vilayphone (Vilay) Thammavongsa.

Vilay is an experienced and dedicated professional with a passion for community engagement and social responsibility. She has 12 years of experience in Laos on community and stakeholder work in the mining sector. Joining Annamite, her primary mission is to foster transparent communication, establish meaningful connections, and promote mutual understanding between our company and the people residing in the Sokdee area we explore.

At Annamite, we recognize the vital role communities play in the success of our operations. We understand that open dialogue, active listening, and collaboration are the cornerstones of building a prosperous future together.

What Will the Community Relations Officer Do?

  • Stakeholder Engagement: She will be actively reaching out to community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders to learn about their perspectives, concerns, and aspirations, as well as keeping them informed about our work and activities on the ground.

  • Resolving Complaints: Our CRO will address any complaints that may arise using a Grievance Mechanism (GM), ensuring that the community's needs are taken into account and resolved in a fair and respectful manner.

  • Land Access: Accessing land owned by third parties is key for exploration activities. Vilay will ensure that written agreements are prepared with fair compensation provided to land owners or land users during our fieldwork, mainly for drilling.

  • Sustainable Practices: Vilay will be at the forefront of promoting sustainable exploration practices, taking the environment, the security, the health and the well-being of the community into consideration at every step of our operations.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and respecting the local culture is paramount. Our CRO will be a bridge between our company and the community, ensuring that we work hand-in-hand with cultural sensitivity and respect.

Stay tuned for more updates from Annamite Resources, as we share progress, stories, and initiatives in the community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community in the Hinherb District for welcoming us with open arms. Together, we can create a positive impact and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
