Smaller Footprint, Smarter Exploration: Advancing Responsible Drilling at the Sokdee-Vangma Project

At Annamite Resources, responsible exploration is about continually improving the way we work—advancing mineral exploration while minimising our environmental footprint and respecting the landscapes in which we operate.

The Company is pleased to share continued progress from its drilling programme at the Sokdee-Vangma Project in Laos, where the exploration team has successfully designed and implemented significantly smaller drilling pads. This innovation reflects Annamite Resources’ commitment to combining technical excellence with responsible environmental management.

Traditionally, large drilling rigs require drill pads measuring approximately 15 metres by 15 metres. Through careful planning and operational improvements, the team is now able to conduct drilling from pads measuring just 4 metres by 3 metres. This substantially smaller footprint allows exploration activities to be undertaken within rubber tree plantations without removing trees or damaging their root systems, helping preserve local agricultural land while reducing surface disturbance.

The drilling contractor is currently operating two rigs simultaneously, enabling the exploration programme to progress efficiently while maintaining the benefits of the reduced drilling footprint. The combination of improved operational efficiency and lower environmental impact demonstrates how innovation can support more sustainable exploration practices.

This achievement reflects Annamite Resources’ ongoing commitment to responsible exploration, technical discipline, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement across its operations.

During a recent site visit, Technical Director Rael Lipson and Chief Executive Officer Didier Fohlen visited the Sokdee-Vangma Project to review exploration progress, inspect active drilling operations alongside the field team, and plan the next stages of the exploration programme.

From geological mapping and technical review to sample collection, assessment, and active drilling, every stage of the exploration process contributes to building a more comprehensive understanding of the mineral potential across the Company’s ten exploration targets within its 185-square-kilometre project area. These activities are laying the foundation for informed exploration decisions while supporting the responsible development of Laos’ mineral resources.

As exploration progresses, Annamite Resources remains focused on delivering high-quality technical outcomes through innovative practices that balance exploration success with environmental responsibility and strong stakeholder relationships.
